Pairing your phone and glasses

• The glasses show a six-character code. When you type it on the phone, GlassTube's server links the two devices and gives both a private link token. The code expires within a day; a paired link lasts a year past the last time either device used it. "New code" on the glasses drops the link.
• What you send to the glasses (video links and titles, lists, channels, and the settings the glasses need) passes through GlassTube's server so the glasses can pick it up.

Searching and playing videos

• Searches you make on the glasses or phone, and the channel and playlist lists you open, are fetched from YouTube by GlassTube's server and returned to your device.
• To play a video, the iPhone app looks up the video stream on your own network and passes that link to the glasses, which then load the video from YouTube's servers. If phone and glasses are on the same Wi-Fi, the app can also offer to play from the phone over your local network, which is why it asks for Local Network access.
• Videos are played from YouTube and are subject to YouTube's own terms and privacy policy.

Optional Google sign-in

• To browse your subscriptions, playlists, liked videos and watch later, you can sign in with Google on the phone. GlassTube asks only for your basic profile and read-only access to your YouTube account.
• The resulting session is encrypted by GlassTube's server and stored in the iPhone Keychain. It is never stored in your GlassTube account.
• If you tap "Send sign-in to glasses", that session travels over the pairing link and is kept on the glasses so they can read your library on their own. Only do this with glasses you own. Signing out on the phone clears it on both.

Optional GlassTube account

• You can create a GlassTube account with Sign in with Apple or email and a password. It is stored at Berth (atberth.com).
• It keeps your playlists and saved videos, followed channels, recently sent videos, recent searches, settings, and glasses pairing, so a new phone picks them up.
• Signing out keeps everything on the phone and just stops syncing. You can ask us to delete the account at any time.

What stays on your devices

• Recent videos, saved lists, where you stopped in each video, recent searches, and settings are kept on the phone and in the glasses web app's local storage.

What GlassTube does not do

• No selling or sharing of your data for advertising.
• No ads, no analytics SDKs, no tracking. This website uses no cookies and no trackers.
• No camera or microphone access.

Children

GlassTube is not directed at children under 13 and does not knowingly collect their personal information.

Changes

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new date.
